Phone Support
About the role
Volunteers provide one-off, immediate assistance over the phone to help seekers in crisis or distress.
Training
Listening, not counselling. This course will equip you with the skills needed to support a help seeker through their immediate crisis.
A 13-week, blended training program including weekly eLearning, face-to-face, practice and on-site placement, followed by a 92-hour on-site internship.

Requirements
- Over 18 years of age
- Australian/New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or valid visa with no study restrictions
- Fit to Work criminal record check & Working with Children Check (completed on acceptance to training)
- 56-hour internship commitment
- Intermediate level computer skills
- Access to personal computer
- Strong spoken English

Digital Support

Listening, not counselling. This course will equip you with the skills needed to support a help seeker through their immediate crisis in an online format.
A 12-week online training program including eLearning and remote placement followed by 52-hour remote internship.

- Over 18 years of age
- Australian/New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or valid visa with no study restrictions
- Must be NSW Resident (If not a NSW resident, please go to Lifeline Australia Volunteer as a Crisis Supporter)
- Fit to Work criminal record check & Working with Children Check (completed on acceptance to training)
- 52-hour remote internship commitment
- Access to personal computer & private working space
- Strong written-English
